Karen Robbinsis a consultant attorney with the Guardian Wealth Advanced Markets team, partnering with financial professionals and attorneys on advanced planning strategies that support estate planning and lifeinsurancebased wealth transfer. Prior to joining Guardian, Karen’s privatepractice background was concentrated in elder law, special needs planning, and probate. That experience continues to inform her work today, particularly in planning for the long-term care needs of an aging population and individuals with special needs. Karen is an active leader within the Connecticut Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (CT NAELA), where she serves on the Board of Directors, chairs the Program Committee, and serves on the Public Policy Committee. She earned her undergraduate degree from Amherst College and her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law (and remains an enthusiastic UConn basketball fan). She also holds an LL.M. in Elder Law and Estate Planning from Western New England University School of Law. Outside of her professional work, Karen is a dedicated advocate for victims of elder abuse and intimate partner violence. In her spare time, she can often be found working on her tennis game—or, more recently, attempting pickleball. She resides in Simsbury, Connecticut, with a rotating cast of young adult children, two senior dogs, and a Siamese rescue cat.
