When I want an honest perspective on the future of our profession, I call Dawn Behnke, Executive Vice President of Consumer Markets at Pacific Life. Her longstanding involvement with Finseca, along with her sound judgment and willingness to say what she really thinks, has made her one of my go-to trusted voices for advice, as she has for so many others.
She joined me to revisit a topic that has often come up in our conversations: what real alignment looks like across our profession and, more broadly, within our industry.
I have often said that in the eyes of policymakers, we are not multiple organizations; we are one industry. ACLI represents the carrier community, and Finseca represents distribution. While we may see things through different prisms, as Dawn so eloquently said, we have the same end goal: to serve consumers. And millions of Americans need our help!
Sometimes it’s easy to focus on the “competition” among carriers, distribution groups, or even individuals in your market. But the real competition is not within our industry! We have far more to gain by working together than by protecting our own corners.
I’m grateful for people like Dawn and so many other leaders who have contributed their time—our most valuable resource—shared their expertise, and helped us build Finseca from the start. That kind of partnership makes our entire profession stronger and helps us serve the millions of Americans who depend on our products, advice, and planning to achieve financial security.
Together, we are Finseca.
