Thirty years ago, Amy Jamrog entered this profession as the only woman in her office, with the entire team sharing a single computer.
Today, she is the Founding Partner and CEO of The Jamrog Group, founder of Four Wings Consulting, and author of Life Savings Conversations and Confetti Moments.
In this week’s Monday Brief, I sit down with Amy to discuss why women may need a different path to succeed in this profession, the isolation many talented advisors face, and the advice she wishes she had embraced earlier.
Her mentor told her that growth happens personally, professionally, and financially, in that order. Most of us want to skip to the third, but the first two are what make it last. Amy’s advice is to be patient with yourself, stay coachable, and find people you can learn alongside.
That last point matters. Not everyone needs the same kind of team, but people are more likely to stay, take risks, and grow when they know they are not doing it alone.
Thirty years later, Amy has built an extraordinary career as a financial planner, team leader, and coach, bringing invaluable perspective to her work. And she’s still finding opportunities to teach and learn every day. That may be the clearest definition of staying relevant I have heard.
Together, we are Finseca.
